a little entertainment

Since last summer I’ve been catching up on a few different television shows that I now consider my favorites.  Some I’ve watched via the internet while others I’ve caught on the tube.  Two of my favorites just ended this week sadly, but I have two other favorites which start airing again in June.

True Blood

Gossip Girl

Pretty Little Liars

Once Upon A Time

Check them out sometime…I guarantee you’ll like at least one of them!

Hello Weekend!

Wedding planning has been in full swing around here.  In the past week, Fiance and I have ordered our wedding bands, applied for our marriage license, finalized ceremony and reception music, had a fun bridal shower, ordered programs for the wedding and did I forget something?  Probably, but it’s been fun!

Here are some photos and links that capture a little of what’s been going on around here.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  I’m off to do a little gardening.

on being a grown up.

I’ve been reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.  It’s an account of her present day life and the ways she finds to stay positive in the here and now, whether that is holding her tongue in certain situations, being selfless or organizing, etc.  Simple tasks, really.  It’s interesting to think about what makes each of us tick because, after all, we are all different.  I’d suggest it to anyone who wants an inspiring, thought-provoking read.

Through reading this, it has made me think of myself and the way I present myself, the way I think, etc.  Happiness is a choice.  I can wake up in the morning and decide whether I want to struggle through the day or put a smile on my face and overcome anything negative that attempts to get in my way.  This is difficult, sometimes.  Of course it is for everyone at times.

In fact, I had a realization the other day.  I now work two jobs (basically summing up to 40 hrs of work a week), travel the 30-45 min. to Nashville for physical and occupational therapy two days a week, come home, cook and attempt to do something with fiance for the remaining couple hours, if possible.  My realization was this: So, this is what being a grown up is really like?  I know, I’m almost 25 and should have realized this long ago, but mind you, I’ve never had a full time job.  Plenty of part times while in school was enough for me, but this full time thing is a whole new ball game.  It’s common to feel mundane about life when you think this is all it has to offer.  Work, eat, sleep and do it all over again.  But, you know what?

I made a decision to put my big girl panties on and say, “No, this is not what life is all about!”  Sure, a job is important, and I’m happy to have one.  It is a big part of life, but it doesn’t have to be all there is to life.  I get to meet all kinds of different people and learn new things everyday at work.  Sure, driving to therapy back and forth gets old, but I get the strengthening I need along with some pretty great therapists.  In between all of that, I get to spend time with the man I’m going to grow old with, and I love it.  We enjoy watching things grow.  We plant loads of shrubs, herbs and soon-we will plant vegetables.  We travel, do things outside, cook and summer is our favorite season to spend together.

Life can get pretty hectic and stressful sometimes, but I’ve learned that sometimes if you take one thing at a time, some things are a breeze.  Other things can be tough to tackle, but we can do it!  Being a grown up can be boring, yes, but there are so many things to still look forward to.  Happiness is a choice, remember?  And I choose to think outside the box, and be happy.

yummy.

I tried the above recipe a couple of days ago, and it’s hands down one of my new favorites.  I love trying new ways to make recipes, adding twists here and there.  I found this one on Pinterest and quickly filed it under “foods tried and loved.”  If you like pasta and italian, this one’s for you!

a spring in my step.

Now that spring is here, I have a new spring in my step.  I’m ready for starting my very first vegetable garden, trying out the new farmers’ market in town, spring colors, dresses, sandals, bright blue skies and the list goes on…

I’ve been changing the look of my living room around a bit from a dark red and avocado green to neutrals with touches of color.  All of my pictures are nature-inspired, and I’m not sure why I’ve never thought of doing this before, but I love it.  In a way, I’m bringing spring inside. :)

Do you have any new ideas this spring?  Please share if you do!

currently.

Loving: Rihanna and Drake’s song Take Care.  I seem to go through phases of different music styles.  I pretty much enjoy every type of mysic.  I’m currently loving anything R&B or pop.

Thinking about: Last minute wedding details.  What else should I do?  Should I add more decor to the list?  Will my dress come in on time?  Will I get the job I had an interview for this week? (Yes, I had one)!  These thoughts have been running rampant through my brain as of late.

Anticipating: The Hunger Games movie tomorrow!  I’m going with a big group of girls plus fiance.  Should be fun.  I’m so excited.  Did you read the books?  They are so good..

Listening to: my fiance watching The Mentalist.

Eating: Currently nothing, which for me, is a shocker.  I love to eat.

Wishing: that I had more time to spend with fiance and the ones I love.  Things have been extremely hectic lately so it’s been difficult to squeeze in dates and fun things like that, but this weekend should be fun!

What about you?  What are your wishes?  What are you loving at this moment?

5 happys on a sunday.

Hello there!  I hope everyone found 5 happys in your week this past week.  Here are mine.

1. Payday on Friday!

2. Receiving the cutest baby shower invitation from one of my good friends from college.  The shower will be next Saturday, and I’m so excited!  It’ll be great to see some friends who I haven’t seen in awhile.

3. A skillet my great aunt passed down to me…can’t wait to try my hand at some cornbread.

4. 71 days until May 27=our wedding day!

5. Fiance built me a raised bed for my vegetable garden for the year…I want to grow everything.  (Pics to come).

Hope everyone had a good week…here’s to a restful Sunday!

a fun weekend.

My sister Hayley and me at her school.

This weekend was great.  I saw my family in East Tennessee, stayed with my sister in her super awesome loft apartment in Knoxville, met up with my sister-in-law and cousin for fun times and just had an overall great, relaxing weekend.

My aunt has been helping me quite a bit with wedding planning (thanks Vicky)! and I can’t wait to use some of her creativeness on the big day.  I’m sure I’ll be sharing lots of fun photos of things that she or she and I will create beforehand.  Speaking of her creative talents, she has an AWESOME etsy shop where she sells the cutest stuffed animals.

Adorable, right?  You can find other cute animals like this one at Good Wil* Creations.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful Tuesday!

P.S. I shared this post on

date night.

Tonight we celebrated my future sister-in-law’s birthday with steaks and yummy mixed drinks.  ’We’ meaning fiance, his parents, me and his sister.  It was a good time as always.  I painted a wine glass for her…we tend to have a glass or two on Friday nights so it was very fitting. ;)  Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of the results, but it was super easy and something I’ll keep up my sleeve for future gifts.

Here is a tutorial I used: painting a wine glass

Fiance and I finished off our date night with a movie at the local theatre…pretty funny but even greater to get to spend some time together.

Have a good night everyone!
